As a virgin van builder putting together a 23 transit extended adventure wagon kit, I leaned into Brian's experience to tackle the scarier tasks (windows, fan, heater). What van platforms work best for a family weekender build?

The Ford Transit High Roof is one of the most popular platforms for family weekender builds because of its interior height, cargo volume, and parts availability. The Mercedes Sprinter 170 extended wheelbase is also well-suited for larger families. The Ram Promaster offers excellent interior width which can be a real advantage for family layouts. During your consultation, we walk every client through the tradeoffs based on their family size, storage needs, and how they travel.

Can you build a sleeping layout for adults and children?

Yes, and designing those layouts is one of the things we do best. Every family is different: the number of kids, their ages, how much gear you carry, and whether you want a fixed bed or a convertible setup all shape the layout. Families come to us with specific sleeping needs and we design around them. We have built comfortable sleeping configurations for couples with toddlers, families with older kids, and everything in between
