WHAT WE BUILD

Focused Builds For Real Adventures

Every van that leaves our Fife, Washington shop is the product of that focus. Both build types come from the same shop, the same team, and the same standard of care.

Off-Road Adventure Vans

When the road ends is exactly where these builds begin. Our off-road adventure vans are built for forest roads, mountain passes, river crossings, and remote campsites that most vehicles never reach.

These are not lifted vans with a couple of accessories. Every off-road build is a complete system, designed from the ground up for backcountry capability without giving up comfort or reliability.

What is Included:

Suspension and Exterior

Agile Off-Road lift kits, off-road wheel and tire packages, heavy-duty roof racks, skid plate protection, and Flarespace wheel well extensions that give your build the stance and clearance to handle dirt roads, forest tracks, and backcountry terrain.

Electrical Systems

Victron Energy electrical systems built for real off-grid demand. Lithium battery banks, solar panels, inverter/chargers, and smart battery monitoring so your van powers everything you need, whether you are parked at a local trailhead or three days deep into the backcountry with no hookups in sight.

Off-Grid Capability

Fresh water systems, grey water management, Espar or Timberline diesel heating, and the infrastructure to stay out as long as you want without depending on campgrounds or facilities. Built for year-round use in all conditions.

Interior and Layout

Interiors designed for how adventurers actually use their van. Durable materials, efficient storage, a bed platform that converts quickly, and enough space to live comfortably without feeling cramped after a long day on trail.

Family Weekenders

Weekends are short. Family weekender builds are designed to close that gap — making it easier for families to get out more often, travel more comfortably, and spend less time managing logistics and more time being present.

These are not vans built for the idea of family travel. They are built around the reality of it: kids with gear, adults who still want comfort, and trips that need to come together quickly after a busy week.

What is Included:

Family-Friendly Layouts

Sleeping configurations built for two adults and kids, thoughtful storage that keeps gear organized and accessible, and surfaces that hold up to everything a family trip involves. Designed around how families actually use their van, not how they imagine they will.

Electrical Systems

Victron-based electrical systems scaled to family travel needs. Keep devices charged, run lighting, power a fan or heater, and manage your system easily without needing a technical background. Built to be reliable and simple to use on every trip.

Heating and Climate

Espar or Timberline diesel heating keeps your family comfortable through cold mornings at elevation, shoulder season nights at remote sites, and everything in between. Year-round usability is not an option; it is built in.

Weekend and Travel Functionality

Custom cabinetry, a functional kitchen setup, window and roof vent installations, insulation built for year-round use, and the finishing details that make a van feel like a home away from home, whether you are parked at a local campsite or deep in the backcountry.

WHICH BUILD IS RIGHT FOR YOU

Not Sure Where to Start? Here Is a Simple Way to Think About It.

Both build types come out of the same Fife, Washington shop with the same standard of craft. The difference is in how they are designed and who they are designed for.

  • Backcountry access and off-road capability are your priority

  • You travel light, fast, and often into remote terrain

  • You travel with kids and need a layout built around family life

  • Weekend trips and overnights are your most common use case

  • Comfort, organization, and ease of use matter as much as capability

Components We Stand Behind

Victron, Agile Off-Road, Espar, Timberline, Adventure Wagon, Flarespace. We spec brands that perform in real-world conditions, not brands that look good on a spec sheet and underdeliver when it matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a custom van build cost?

Build pricing varies based on complexity and scope. Scallywagon builds typically range from $30,000 to $140,000. Call us at 253-232-6837 for a free consultation and we'll walk you through an honest, realistic quote based on your actual goals.

Do you work on vans I already own?

Yes. We work on customer-owned vans across all major platforms, including the Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter, and Ram Promaster. Bring your van to our Fife, Washington shop and we'll assess it and talk through what your build would involve. We're also happy to advise on what to look for when sourcing a van.

How long does a complete van build take?

Timelines vary based on build scope, parts availability, and our current schedule. Most complete builds take several weeks to a few months from start to finish. We give every client an honest timeline upfront. We would rather be straight with you than overpromise.

Do you offer upgrades without a full build?

Absolutely. Our curated upgrade packages let you add targeted capability, whether that's a Victron electrical system, an Agile Off-Road suspension lift, or a diesel heater install, without committing to a full conversion. Many van owners start with an upgrade and come back for more.

Can you help us figure out the right build before we commit?

That is exactly how we prefer to start. Before any build begins, we have a detailed conversation about your family, how you travel, where you go, and what your van needs to do. Every build should reflect how you actually use it.
